April 3 - May 3, 2002 - After we've enjoyed a week of blissful silence and privacy, the foundation crew returns to create the foundation wall.  Somewhere in the middle of this portion of the project our smoldering resentment toward sharing our home with brawny, raucous, messy strangers erupts into a conflagration of hostility when subflooring in the living room is damaged by the crew.  Angry faxes are dispatched, unpleasant conversations ensue, and about half the crew is no longer speaking to us.  It's all very Real World/Frontier House/Judge Mills Lane.  Nonetheless, the subflooring is being repaired, the resulting concrete foundation wall looks spiffy... and they say the porch and driveway will be poured within a week.  We are skeptical, but not without hope. The Trench - It takes several guys several weeks and a great deal of yelling to dig a really deep trench around the front of the house for the new foundation wall. The Boxing - It takes a bunch of guys about a week and a half to nail in all this plywood, which provided a form for the concrete wall. The Wall - It takes just a few guys like, one day to pour the concrete wall. It looks all bitchin' and fresh.
